160-Hour Hazardous Materials Technician Course

This course will prepare the participants with the skills required to respond systematically and safely to HazMat and WMD emergencies. The course will incorporate the patented HazMatIQ System. The HazMatIQ System coaches responders on how to safely and eciently respond to any known or unknown HazMat/WMD.

Participants who successfully complete the course and associated Task Book are eligible to submit for the State of Florida, Bureau of Fire Standards and Training Hazardous Materials Technician Certication Exam.

Objectives

  • The participants will be able to identify multiple hazards such as ammable, toxic, corrosive, radioactive explosive and chemical reactions from known and UNKNOWN chemicals.
  • The participants will be able to select, operate and interpret multiple solid/liquid/air monitoring instruments.
  • The participants will be able to perform sampling techniques.
  • The participants will be able to choose the proper mission driven PPE.
  • Participants will be able to identify leak/release/spill control techniques and procedures.

Schedule
Shift friendly. Sundays off (same class taught on two consecutive days, student must attend either one).

Date: Class #1, #2 Starts Monday/Tuesday, October 4th or 5th 2010. Class ends November 9th. Make up dates: November 10, 11, 12 and 13 2010.
